createurope: THE FASHION ACADEMY AWARD

createurope:THE FASHION ACADEMY AWARD is a Europe wide competition for fashion design students and young fashion designers under the patronage of Dirk Schönberger, the creative director at Joop!. The competition is an initiative of the Goethe-Instituts, in cooperation with EUNIC Berlin and the main sponsor is the company, Quelle. createurope:THE FASHION ACADEMY AWARD's goal is to network the young fashion scene and to create an enduring, intensive exchange between young talent and the individual fashion schools of Europe. From January through to May 2008, there will be upbeat events in order to advertise the competition in more than 20 participating countries from Istanbul to Zagreb to Vilnius. Prizes will be given for "Best Upcoming Designer", "Best Avantgarde" and "Best Student" as well as a Galeries Lafayette Audience-Award. The trophy, Saint Katherin - patron of the fashion scene - will be made by the British sculptor, Tony Cragg. The closing date for participant applications is 30th of June, 2008. The collections of the finalists will be presented on 18th October 2008 at the final event at the Radialsystem in Berlin.
